At the heart of Honen.au is a deep passion for business, marketing, and deal-making that started from a young age. Denny Honen, a native of South Australia, has always had an entrepreneurial spark. As a kid, he wasn’t just drawing in art class—he was designing imaginary property developments and selling ‘land’ to his classmates. But it wasn’t just about imagination it was about turning ideas into money.
Living near the Gawler Golf Club, Denny saw an opportunity. The infamous 17th Hole, known as "Heart Attack Hill," had golfers struggling to push their buggies up the steep incline. So, at just 13 years old, Denny and a neighbour started charging golfers $2 to haul their buggies up the hill. It may have been a small venture, but it showcased his early knack for spotting opportunities.
Though the boys were eventually shut down, a couple of local businessmen took notice and invited them to become caddies —an experience that ignited both Denny's lifelong love for golf and his passion for business.
Fast forward to today, and Denny has over 30 years of experience working with some of Australia’s largest companies, alongside launching eight startups and running businesses with turnovers up to $20M AUD per year.
His career has taken him across Europe, Asia, and Africa, but the common thread in all of his ventures is simple: Denny opens deals. His ability to connect, strategise, and execute has made him a sought-after leader in the world of business and marketing.
Covid-19 brought Denny back to his roots in Adelaide, where family commitments have kept him. But rather than slow down, he’s decided to channel his extensive experience, millions of dollars in advertising spend, a global network of contacts, and his deep knowledge of offshore outsourcing, into creating Honen.au.
